About Us

The Blackhawk Nation is made up of five “tribes” of Dads and Daughters (aka Braves and Princesses) seeking to further their bond by spending memorable time together at planned events and quarterly campouts.

About

The Blackhawk Nation

Each year (hunting season) the fives tribes of the Blackhawk Nation get together for four weekend camping trips. Fall and Winter campouts take place where there are heated cabins whereas Spring and Summer campouts are in tents. All campouts provide fun activities and competitions where the Braves and Princess of each tribe work together to beat the other tribes and take back with them trophies and awards for doing so. Each campout holds a Saturday evening council fire where new inductees are introduced and graduating Braves and Princesses are showcased and given a ceremonial blanket and a heirloom to always remind them of the times shared together. On the way to the Council Fire, the Braves and Princesses of each tribe walk together on what is called the “AIMS WALK” which has seven stops along the way, each reminding the Braves and Princesses of the 7 AIMS of our Program, which are:

1.

To be clean in body and pure in heart

2.

To be pals forever with my Dad / Daughter

3.

To love the sacred circle of my family

4.

To be attentive while others speak

5.

To love thy neighbor as myself

6.

To respect the traditions and beliefs of all people

7.

To seek and preserve the beauty of The Great Spirit’s work in forest, field, and stream

Aside from the many fun Nation activities, Tribe dinners around the campfire, hikes, breakfasts, and lunches create special bonds and friendships between the Princesses of each tribe.

The Braves of each tribe also forge new and lifelong friendships. Spending time working together around the Tribe campsites and occasionally enjoying some firewater together!

There is no requirement to participate in any events. Attend those you can, miss those you can’t. It’s the most easy-going program imaginable. But beware, if you attend one campout with your daughter, she will never want to miss another one!!
